Family Mediation
During the last decade, divorce mediation has emerged as an alternative to the traditional legal system. As a result, there is a continuing need for approved, professionally trained neutral third parties to assist divorcing couples in identifying, negotiating and resolving the issues that arise from the decision to divorce.
This intense five day (42 hour) course covers all aspects of the divorce process. Classes are purposely kept small in order to provide an optimum training environment.
Juvenile Mediation Training
We are pleased to announce that we now offer Juvenile Mediation Training. A prerequisite for this is the General/Civil Mediation Training. The 21 hour training will qualify you for mediation in juvenile issues.
We are also excited to have Melissa Heard, MSSW, as the trainer. Melissa has been doing this training for the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and some of the Juvenile Courts around the state. Cost is $595.00 ($550.00 if paid for 30 days prior to the trainng).
General Civil Mediation
At the conclusion of this intense three and a half day training program, participants will have experienced, practiced and taken ownership of many different mediation techniques by actually experiencing them in real life simulations. As trained, neutral third party facilitators, they can then enable disputants to clarify perceptions, focus on individual and shared needs, look to the future, generate options and help them construct workable agreements.
Domestic Violence
When mediators deal with divorce situations, often there are elements of domestic violence present. This two day advanced course in domestic violence issues in mediation looks at recognizing domestic violence, looks at ways to protect the safety of the victim during the mediation session, has simulation role plays and brings in outside experts in the field. More and more states are requiring this additional training for their domestic mediators.
