Atlanta Divorce Mediators and Mediation Training Institute are all about resolving conflict as early as possible, because that's often when it can be resolved most easily. We invite you to come in and find out more about our work and the trainings we offer.

Our Mission

Our mission for mediation clients is to assist them in making their lives more positive from the mediation experience. We also believe we can have fun as mediators in mediation training and mediation. After all, we are offering a valuable alternative to people in conflict.

Our training classes are kept small, intentionally. We feel you learn more and retain more in small classes. We also video tape all of your role-plays (we won't "make" you let us video tape you, we encourage it). This gives you an additional "training device" to watch your body language, your facial expressions and your tone of voice.....are you coming across to your clients as "neutral?" This video is yours to keep.

Who We Are

We are a group of experienced professionals from varying backgrounds who have come together to share our experiences through training others in the mediation process. We are all actively mediating cases, as we feel this is the way to offer the best, most comprehensive, useful training and mediation techniques. Our founder, Elizabeth Manley, has been mediating since 1977 and training other mediators
since 1979.

NEW TRAININGS

Juvenile Mediation Training

We are pleased to announce that we now offer Juvenile Mediation Training.  A prerequisite for this is the General/Civil Mediation Training. The 21 hour training will qualify you for mediation in juvenile issues. 

We are also excited to have Melissa Heard, MSSW, as the trainer.  Melissa has been doing this training for the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and some of the Juvenile Courts around the state.  Cost is $595.00 ($550.00 if paid for 30 days prior to the trainng).

FATAL ATTRACTION:  Handling Clients with Personality Disorders

This new training is for mediators, attorneys and therapists.  Marti Kitchens Cobb, LMFT, LPC, and Georgia Geiger, LPC, will be training us in how to recognise and deal with clients with personality discorders.

Marti and Georgia are mediators and therapists, so they bring both aspects to this training.  We are excited to partner with them.

Training Tapes Available

We have training tapes available for sale. We use these in our own trainings. They are also sold by the Association for Conflict Resolution. They have been sold nationally and internationally. If you are a mediation trainer, you might find these helpful tools in your training. The mediator in these tapes is Elizabeth Manley.

Divorce Mediation: Avoiding a Civil War
This is a high conflict divorce mediation, covering three sessions. This tape enables the viewer to observe the process of mediation as it relates to all areas in a divorce situation. Elizabeth manages the conflict and keeps the couple focused and on task. Cost $100.00

University Faculty / Management Mediation
This tape enables the viewer to observe the process of mediation as it relates to a newly disabled psychology professor and the human relations person at the university. The participants have totally different perceptions of what needs to happen. This video includes a caucus. $75.00

Business Mediation
This is a mediation between a manager and an employee. It addresses the employee's complaint about a poor evaluation, which affects pay increases. It demonstrates mediating in a situation in which the manager has had difficulty managing. This video includes a caucus. $75.00

Business Mediation
Two therapists in private practice mediate issues that have led to one partner wanting out of the practice. This mediation demonstrates how emotions are dealt with in order to keep the parties focused on their issues, their needs and creative options. $75.00

Landlord/Tenant Mediation
"Mixed messages" addresses a landlord's complaint about a tenant who has moved out without notice, leaving the house in need of many repairs. Present are the attorneys for each party. This mediation demonstrates getting the disputants to take ownership for the mediation process in a way that also respects the role of the attorneys. $75.00
